Long-awaited return of F1 in Portugal
After a 24-year Formula 1 absence in Portugal, Portimao´s Algarve International Racetrack has finally been confirmed as the venue for the "F1 Heineken Grand Prix".
The decision to allow spectators has brought great joy upon F1 fans all over the world, but none more than the Portuguese people who have not seen a F1 competition in their country since the 1996 Portuguese Grand Prix, held in Estoril.

The event will take place between Friday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 25th.

Portimao´s Algarve International Racetrack
Portimao´s Algarve International Racetrack was built in 2008 and is a 66 lap, 4.684 km long race track with elevation changes integrated into its layout and will also have a brand new surface to generate extra grip. During the winter of 2008-2009, the circuit was used for the F1 pre-season testing, but this will be the first time it will host a Formula 1 World Championship event. The decision about how many attendants that will be allowed has not yet been taken, but we can expect anywhere between 5.000 to 50.000 spectators.
